Really amazing work with the texture on the octopus, interesting cave wall even. How in the world did you do the octopus texture? Is it all hand-work? In any case, even with only half of it showing I'm amazed with the amount of detail and patience here. Well done.

Let's see, with the octopus, I did the outline with a dip pen and sepia ink, then I covered the whole thing with squiggles in the same medium. The squiggles change slightly in color because I didn't shake up my bottle of ink before starting. Then I did some sepia washes, and then I put the white dots on. I basically started this because I thought.. Hey! I have THREE COLORS of ink! I probably could make something cool!I remember sitting on the couch for 6 hours doing the lines on the wall, I completely murdered one of my micron pens doing that. Patience was the operative word here, this piece represents the entire month of November and then some.
I sort of meant the title to be open ended, but the picture means something specific to me that I didn't realize until I had finished most of the picture. Painting hundreds of pengiuns will do that to you. I think the explanation might kind of ruin the piece, though. However, I can tell you that the title is a song lyric that got stuck in my head when I was drawing it. It goes:
I'm becoming something else/
I am turning into God
(Nine Inch Nails, 'Vessel'
I realized yesterday that I could get a scan of all of it by scanning half of it at one time, so I'll try and get that up here sometime soon.

Thanks for the explanation on technique too. It looked like hand work but I couldn't believe anyone would spend that much time! It very much shows though. And that's a bit funny about the unintended colour changes, it really adds a lot. Would love to see the entire piece whenever you can manage it
